JANUARY 2018
What's up Windy City!
And so we begin a new year… Can’t quite believe another year has gone by, the holidays are over, and the calendar reads “2018.” But… here we are. We’ve had a lot of change at Windy City the past year. Change, however, is constant…and I can tell you that we’re really looking forward to moving forward in 2018. With regard to January… We’re fired-up to feature a new AOM, get the year started right with our 6 Week Transformation Challenge, and welcome a new coach (Paul Clark — bio coming). Here’s to a great 2018!
Keep livin' BIG,
—Justin

NEW COACH
We’re excited to welcome Paul Clark. Paul comes to us from CrossFit Harwood Heights; as well, CrossFit Kilter and CrossFit Lake Forest. A full bio is coming; however, if you see Paul in the gym, please give him a warm welcome and show him what our amazing community is all about.BARBELLS FOR BOOBS
A BIG Thank You to our amazing community. Together, we raised $12,500 for last month’s Barbells for Boobs event. Barbells for Boobs is a 501(c)3 nonprofit breast cancer organization dedicated to the early detection of breast cancer, with an emphasis on women under the age of 40 and men. Everyone has the RIGHT to know if they are living with breast cancer.
Jordan Bazemore
“It wasn’t until my sophomore year when I was going through some pictures and realized I had definitely gained a bit more than the freshman 15. For me, it wasn’t about the number on the scale, I just felt super sluggish, noticed my eating and sleeping habits were ridiculous and had no energy to get me through the school day.”
FAVE FOUR FROM THE COACHES
Here's a list of what we're loving and learning this month:
Patrick: Habit I'm trying
Stay away from my phone or all electronic devices 20-30min before I go to bed and after I get up. To unplug, calm my mind and improve my sleep. Take a shower, read a book, drink some tea. Great way to start and end each day.Eloise: Gear I'm using
WBCM Weightlifting Straps—They're the best straps I've used. For weightlifters, they're a MUST as they save your hands from getting beat up from gripping the bar throughout daily training.Malloy: Thing I'm loving
Venta air washer/humidifier—Look into it; way better than a humidifer and cleans the air in your home!- Justin: Book I'm reading
On Managing Yourself—Definitive articles selected from the Harvard Business Review to help you maximize yourself.
ARTICLE OF THE MONTH
Lifebook's Annual Year-End Reflection Ceremony
There’s something absolutely magical about this time of year: the twinkling lights, cozy fires, joyous cheer being spread by everyone, and perhaps most exciting of all, the anticipation of turning the page of our lives to a brand new chapter. It’s a season of celebration, love, and self-reflection. In honor of this magical time, Lifebook has a reflection ritual that takes place each December/January. The ritual is done by answering simple questions, which are designed to call forth mighty truth, inspiration and growth from deep within you.
