Member WINs
One of our core beliefs at Windy City is to take small steps, celebrate each little victory and enjoy the process. In an effort to do just that, we would like to start celebrating member wins. If you have one, and you’d like to share, please email Chris (chris@windycitycrossfit.com)!
In addition to these awesome PRs, we also had the following WINS last month:
Allie Stigall - ran her first 15k and said "I honestly think the strength has helped with that. I've been running on my "off" days from WCSC" — WIN!
Laura Houghton (teacher at Blaine elementary) PRed the Chicago Marathon and then ran the NYC Marathon 3 weeks later — WIN!
Ethan Borgren did 20.5 with his dad, Eric, and got all 40 of the pull-ups — WIN!
Melissa Hill is down 2%BF! — WIN!
Chris Huss and his son did the Spartan Race at Wrigley. First rope climb there — WIN!
Luke got his very first rope climb — WIN!
Matthew Sove and his wife Mandy had their baby on Nov. 22 — WIN!
Love seeing all these WINS! Nice work everyone... keep up the good work!December Challenge: Max Strict Chin Up
Where's the gun show? At the pullup racks. This month's challenge is max strict chin up. Get pumped and let's see how many you can do. Congrats to everyone who participated in last month's challenge. Hannah C. and Ed Z. are the best sitters we've seen in a long time!
ATHLETE OF THE MONTH
Brian Ringley
We're excited to announce our last 2019 athlete of the month—the one and only Brian Ringley. Since joining in 2018, Brian has been a regular part of the 5:30am crew, the Murph Team training as well as achieved massive results during the 6 week challenge and our ongoing nutrition program. He was chosen for his commitment to his health and fitness and support for his fellow athletes. He aims high and actively achieves the goals that he puts in front of himself. He's a real inspiration to us and we're honored to be part of his personal journey.
STAFF FAVE FOUR
Here's a list of what we're loving and learning this month:
- Bradley: Book I'm reading
The Coach’s Strength Training Playbook by Joe Kenn—We are always trying to get better. I found this book during one of my usual trips down the rabbit hole of periodical research. It lays out an integrated, whole body sttenth training program based on functional movement. - Travis: Thing I'm loving
Living closer to the gym—I used to live off of Navy Pier in Streeterville. But I just moved to Lincoln and Foster so traffic is much more consistent, I spend what feels like half my life at the gym. So now I feel much closer not only to the gym but the community. - Esther: Show I'm watching
Dancing with the Stars—I don’t normally watch TV but my roommate does and I’ve caught myself watching with her this season. - Justin: Shoes I'm loving
Reebok Nano 9—Thanks Reebok!
